To help IPL meet the Effluent Limitation Guidelines (ELG) finalized last year by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), GE will supply brine concentration (evaporation) technology to treat flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater discharge from the Petersburg plant, in the process making it possible for IPL to meet the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements. The plant’s wastewater will also be recycled for reuse at the facility.

Our company remains focused on cleaner, affordable and more efficient generation options, said Shams Chishti, director of environmental construction at IPL.
